Gregg Toland, ASC – An Enduring Legancy

Toland’s credits include the classic features Citizen Kane, The Grapes of Wrath and Wuthering Heights, among many others. Former AC editor and film historian George E. Turner writes, “Toland was one of the outstanding cinematographers because he possessed a rare combination of skills, a natural artistic instinct, a determination to deliver the best product of which he was capable and an enormous capacity for work. All of his work is that of a young man, because his life was tragically brief.”
