Shooting with the Sony F65

Last week I had the opportunity to work with Sony F65. I must say that it was a pleasing experience. We set the camera to 1080P, 444 RGB and 12-Bit, 880 mb/s. The files where pretty large. After a 3 days shoot, we ended up with about 3,2TB, witch is a lot for 1080P. So be prepared with a lot of disc space :D.

The camera itself is not optimised for hand held stuff in narrow space, Even though I tried it on one shot, I wouldn’t recommend it to anyone. The viewfinder is sharp and have rich colours. The menu system is fairly simple if you are used to camera menus. The interface is more or less like the F5 & F55, so if you are familiar with those cameras you ail have no problem navigate the F65. The quick menu on the side is very nice and has an easy interface: you have access to frame rate, ND filters, ISO, white balance, shutter speed, etc.

Another really nice feature is the mechanical shutter, which eliminates “skewing” in camera motion, I love that.

In my opinion this is the best camera on the market right now in terms of picture quality. If you have the opportunity to try it out, you should do it.
If you want to test the camera or take it out for a real spin, you will find it at Ljud & Bildmedia. Just talk to the camera department and they will be happy to answer any of your questions or help you setting up the camera.
In a couple of weeks I will be grading and testing the limit of footage. I´ll get back to you as soon as i´m finished. I will uppload some before and after pictures and also share with you my experience.

Next time, when opportunity knocks, I will try and shoot some 8K RAW material. I´m very curious to see how it will deliver.
