Rune Ericson FSF, 1924–2015

The swedish cinematographer Rune Ericson, FSF, recently passed away, age 90, while vacationing in Thailand.

My collegue Roland Sterner FSF and I conducted an interview with Rune in november last year and would then never have imagined receiving this terrible news so soon afterwards.

As Runes contributions to both swedish cinema and indeed the international film industry itself spans over more than half a century, encompasses over 60 feature films, including numerous cherished audience favourites, as well as launching the super 16 format, championing the 3 perf 35mm format, being the CEO of a film lab, the scandinavian representative of Panavision, Aaton and Cooke among others, and indeed receiving an academy award for his achievements(!) they are somewhat beyond words.

The career and accomplishments of Rune Ericson, FSF, will be further remembered and chronicled on this website as well as elsewhere in the near future.

Our thoughts and feelings are with his family at this time

Rune Ericson FSF avled nyligen under en semestervistelse i Thailand. Rune fyllde 90 i fjol.

Roland Sterner FSF och undertecknad genomförde en intervju med Rune i november i fjol och hade inte i vår vildaste fantasi kunnat föreställa oss att få detta tragiska besked så kort tid efteråt! Rune var i god form och berättade fantastiska minnen och anekdoter -några av de bästa under en paus vid fikabordet: självklart när ljudutrustningen var avstängd!

Runes bidrag och insatser inte bara för svensk film utan även för den internationella filmbranschen är bortom ord. En karriär omfattande över ett halvsekel, över 60 långfilmer, däribland många älskade publikfavoriter. Super 16 och 3 perf 35mm, chef för Filmlabor, agenturen för Panavision, Aaton och Cooke bland många andra celebra tillverkare av filmutrustning -och inte minst en utmärkelse från Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences!

Runes karriär och insatser kommer att uppmärksammas på denna website såväl som tveklöst annorstädes i nära framtid.
