Boldly Going Virtual with Star Trek: Strange New Worlds

Cinematographer Magdalena Górka, ASC, PSC; executive producer Paolo Tamburrino; and virtual-production / VFX supervisor Nathaniel Larouche take AC behind the scenes on Star Trek: Strange New Worlds, a series that has made prolific use of an LED volume at visual-effects house Pixomondo’s stage in Toronto. Górka, who shot five episodes of the show, is quite enthusiastic about cinematographers’ access to this new arena of filmmaking technology. “It allows you to have no boundaries to your imagination,” she says.
